Animoto Slide Shows

Posted: September 3, 2009 in Uncategorized

Leo Laporte, the unofficial ‘president of the internet’ and all around head geek recommended Animoto on his blog. As Leo would say, “Wow, is it cool!”.

It’s basically a machine you feed pictures and video, music and text to and it spits out some really nicely textured videos. You can make these on Facebook or at their website and then you can export them to Youtube. Here is the result of one of my early efforts. A great, quick way to turn around promos for The Visitor from Elsewhere Facebook page. Thanks, Mr. President!

The video presented below by YOUTUBE was actually part of a special series on the British television channel Sky Movies. Tarantino hosted the show and introduced movies he chose to present including Taxi Driver, There Will Be Blood, and McCabe and Mrs. Miller.

I just saw ‘Inglorious Basterds’ this past weekend and really liked it a lot. It was cohesive, even gripping. The fact that the film was non historical doesn’t bother me at all. ‘There Will be Blood’ is considered by many to be a masterpiece yet I never really understood the acclaim. To me it was impenetrable. It was just a film about naked greed. It’s interesting nevertheless, to watch QT’s take on the film. I have never felt that someone else’s take on a piece of art has to be identical to my own. You learn more from differing points of view than always being presented with views that match your own.

Facebook, the behemoth social networking site has just launched a new applet that will enable Facebook users to simultaneously update their Twitter pages on Facebook.  According to Facebook’s blog which made the announcement,

“If you manage a Facebook page, you now will be able to decide whether to share updates with your Twitter followers, and you will also be able to control what type of updates to share: status updates, links, photos, notes, events or all of them.”

This is a pretty neat development if you use Twitter and Facebook. Just remember that when you post from Facebook to keep those status updates, including any links within the 140 character limit! Tr.im and other link shortening services are sure to get a lot more business as a result of this.
